Norcold 2118 not cooling, stays at 39 degrees
MY apologies for this being lengthy, but the process to this point has been lengthy with no improvement. I just wanted to to know everything that has been done so far.
Bought the 2016 Big Country new in January 2017. It has a Norcold 2118 refrigerator in the slide out. From the start it has struggled to hold temp below 40 degrees; in the heat we have to put freezer paks in to help it keep temp. I have had it in a repair shop and they can't find anything wrong and tell me it is working correctly. I have: had the doors reset to cure the center flap and left door from sticking and not closing properly, the unit had to be removed from the cabinetry and releveled by 3/8", had the thermistor checked 2X, changed the small 2" pancake fan in the back for a 5" fan like the two above, removed a sheet of aluminum that was partially blocking the upper access cover, and bought a small refrigerator fan for inside. The trailer is in covered storage in Texas, yes it is 95 degrees yesterday but last week it was in the lower 80's and it made no difference. Temperature has not improved through any of these efforts, we are still holding at 39-40 degrees with the door only being opened once per day to check temps. I spoke with Norcold consumer rep and she had me disconnect the thermistor to see if the refrigerator would get colder...it didn't. She suggested the Frost Management module has gone bad and the refrigerator is stuck in defrost mode (39 degrees). My RV repair place spoke with their commercial Norcold tech and they said the refrigerator is working within 32-42 degree parameters and that if the fans in the back are running, the Frost Management (defrost) module is okay. I believe the fans are controlled by a temperature sensor on the tubes in the back, not be the defrost module.
Is the fan controller and the defrost module one and the same? If not, then I am going to buy a new defrost module to see if that helps. We have traveled and the refrigerator just doesn't get cooler even in N. Dakota last year. Help!

Since you're so close to within temps, I would focus all of your attention on air flow behind the refrigerator. You may need to install baffles to help direct air flow out of the back compartment to get a good chimney effect. You can also install an interior refrigerator fan to point at the fins to help circulate air flow. It should drop the temp a couple of degrees.
